IRS Tax Settlement (OIC)

One common approach for taxpayers to settle an IRS debt is an Offer in Compromise (OIC). An OIC reduces your total tax liability. It is an agreement with the IRS that you will pay less than the full amount owed. Successful OICs can result in settlements for as little as 1% of the total back tax debt owed.

Installment Agreement

If you have an IRS tax debt that you cannot pay in the short-term, a long-term payment plan may be right for you. An IRS payment plan or Installment Agreement allows you to repay your tax debt over a period of time. This may also help you reduce interest and penalties and avoid wage and bank levies.

Wage Garnishment

A wage garnishment or levy is when the IRS seizes part of your paycheck to satisfy back taxes. The IRS essentially forces the taxpayer into an involuntary payment plan. Wage garnishment can create severe financial hardship. Working with qualified tax professionals can help you successfully resolve wage garnishments, bank seizures, property liens, and other IRS collection actions.

Tax Lien

A Tax Lien is a legal claim on your property for the amount owed. It is also the legal right to collect on the amount owed. When an IRS Tax Lien is filed, it gives notice to other creditors and the public of the IRS priority on your property. The general tax lien coupled with a notice of intent to levy makes it lawful for the IRS to levy your bank account, seize non-exempt assets, levy accounts receivable, and garnish wages and social security benefits. It is important to take action to prevent this. Our team of tax professionals will work with you to remove and/or prevent a Tax Lien.

Penalty Relief

While many taxpayers dread penalties, few know their options when it comes to penalty relief or abatement. One method of reducing the amount of tax debt, is to request to have tax penalties reviewed and obtain an abatement of penalties.

Payroll Tax Problems

If your business has not remitted federal payroll taxes, you can expect the IRS to be swift and decisive in their collections. Shareholders, Officers, and certain employees can be held personally liable for a corporation’s failure to pay certain payroll taxes. Our team of licensed professionals can confidently negotiate a resolution on your behalf.

Innocent Spouse Relief

The IRS can sometimes saddle you with a tax bill that is actually the responsibility of your spouse or former spouse. If the actions of your spouse/ex-spouse caused the tax issue and you were unaware of or had no part in those actions, you might qualify for “innocent spouse relief” and apply to have the tax liabilities and penalties removed.

Audit Representation

Tax audit representation, also know as audit defense, is a service in which a tax or legal professional stands in on behalf of a taxpayer (an individual or legal entity) during an IRS or state income tax audit. An audit representative develops the strategy used to defend the taxpayer’s position. He or she assists the taxpayer in preparing all documents requested by the taxing authority and typically attends all meetings and handles correspondence on behalf of the taxpayer.

Falling behind on taxes can be overwhelming.

The tax code is REALLY complicated. Many end up in a situation where they owe more to the IRS than they can afford to pay. And because the IRS is the world’s most powerful collection agency, they can do some scary things like seize your home or bank accounts, garnish your wages, or force you to sell assets.
